On March 26, 2026, the LUCE Immigrant Justice Network, anchored by Neighbor to Neighbor, held a powerful virtual convening that shifted the immigration conversation at the highest levels of government.

With hundreds of members, allies, and neighbors joining from across the Commonwealth, we were honored to be joined by two fierce advocates for justice: Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley and Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell.

The Fight for Accountability

The core of our discussion focused on the urgent need to end “rogue” immigration enforcement and the culture of impunity that puts our Black, Brown, and undocumented neighbors at risk.

Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley spoke passionately about the Qualified Immunity Abolition Act, a bill she is championing alongside Senator Ed Markey. This legislation is a cornerstone of our platform—it aims to ensure that federal agents, including ICE, are held to the same standards of law as every other professional.

“When a doctor or a lawyer is held responsible for harm, we must ask why federal agents are shielded by a doctrine that allows for negligence and callous disregard for human life,” Pressley shared. “We cannot undo the harm already caused, but we can ensure it never happens with impunity again.”

A Shield for the Commonwealth

Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell reaffirmed that her office stands as a shield for all Massachusetts residents. She highlighted the ongoing legal battles her office is leading to protect civil rights and due process, noting that the AG’s office has filed over 50 lawsuits to defend the rule of law and protect the billions of dollars in resources our immigrant families contribute to our state.

Her presence on the call sent a clear signal: Co-governance is in action. The highest law enforcement office in the state is listening to the grassroots organizers who are on the ground every day.

Our Goal: We are currently raising $100,000 to fund our continued fight against ICE expansion and to push for state-level protections in our Gateway Cities.
