Board Members of Neighbor to Neighbor Action Fund voted unanimously to endorse four candidates for Lynn City Council in the upcoming election.
N2N Action Fund is building democracy by putting our people — Black, brown and white people, immigrants and lifelong locals of all class backgrounds — at the center of the political process. By educating voters, developing local leadership, and electing candidates who put people and planet before profit, we are building the power to transform our government and change our world.
Each of the candidates submitted a questionnaire to the organization and interviewed with members of the Lynn chapter, and their responses were found to reflect our values and shared aspirations for the city of Lynn.
The following candidates were unanimously endorsed:
Candidates for City Council at-Large
Nicole McClain
Jose Manuel Encarnación*
Candidates for District
Natasha Megie-Maddrey* (Ward 4)
Michael Satterwhite* (Ward 1)
*Member of Neighbor to Neighbor
Each of these candidates supports the policy platform drafted by Neighbor to Neighbor members, staff, and allied organizations. The policy platform is a result of deep democracy, emerging from a long process this spring with Lynn neighbors and leaders from the community deciding together what we want for our city and our future.
The policy platform includes housing with dignity for all, community health and well-being, healthy neighborhoods and environment, meaningful and dignified jobs, and accountability, transparency, and accessibility in government. See the platform.
N2N Action Fund burst onto the scene in 2000 by electing State Representative Jim Leary with the largest-ever margin of victory against an incumbent in Massachusetts history. The organization sent shock waves through the State House and has been organizing ever since.
The preliminary election in Lynn is on Tuesday, September 5. The general election is on Tuesday, November 7.
