With the sun shining brightly and the steady rhythm of marching feet, over 200 people poured into the streets of Springfield on May 1st chanting; a living, breathing testament to the power of the working class.

May Day 2025 started at the Springfield Post Office, a telling symbol of everyday labor and marched to the courthouse, where justice too often feels out of reach for the very people who keep this city running. Along the way, chants rose into the air like drumbeats: loud, defiant, full of fire.

This wasn’t just a protest. It was a procession of power.

Springfield May Day 2025

Teachers walked beside union leaders. Immigrant families pushed strollers alongside organizers carrying bullhorns. Workers fresh off the night shift marched with students carrying handmade signs. The so-called “average joes” were anything but average — they were fed up, fired up, and ready to fight for a future where workers aren’t treated like disposable tools.

The message was clear: we are tired of living in a state where workers’ rights are on the chopping block while billionaires get tax breaks. We’re tired of being told to wait, to be patient, to accept crumbs. We want, and we deserve more.

This May Day wasn’t a moment. It was a line in the sand.

We’re organizing not just to respond but to reimagine. To build a Massachusetts where justice isn’t reserved for the wealthy and well-connected.

We marched because we believe in each other.
We believe in the power of collective action.
And we’re not done.

May Day lit the spark; and Springfield is still burning.
