Community Garden Coordinator

Gabbi Perry is Neighbor to Neighbor’s advocate for food sovereignty, urban agriculture, and community empowerment. As the Dwight Street Garden Community Garden Coordinator at Neighbor to Neighbor Massachusetts, Gabbi leads initiatives that transform urban spaces into thriving community gardens, fostering local food production, advocating for food security and strengthening neighborhood bonds.

Gabbi’s commitment to environmental and social justice is rooted in her academic background, having earned a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies and Politics from Mount Holyoke College. While studying at Mount Holyoke, Gabbi honed her skills in advocacy and public discourse, notably participating in projects that emphasized the importance of effective communication in driving social change.

Beyond her role at Neighbor to Neighbor, Gabbi is actively involved with the Holyoke Food and Equity Collective, an antiracist community organization dedicated to creating equitable access to healthy food in Holyoke. The collective engages in initiatives, including community composting, garden bed installations, and policy advocacy, all aimed at building a resilient local food system.

Gabbi’s multifaceted involvement in food justice is complemented by her part-time work as a farmer and waitress, roles that deepen their connection to the local food landscape and inform their advocacy efforts. Outside of her various roles, Gabbi enjoys playing ultimate frisbee, rock climbing, reading, dancing, and seasonal cooking—activities that embody a harmonious balance with nature and community.
